Boudoir Style & Prep Guide

Welcome — I am so excited you’re here.

Your boudoir session is intentionally and tastefully designed to celebrate your confidence, beauty, and individuality. This guide will walk you through everything you need to know to feel fully prepared, relaxed, and confident when you arrive at the studio.

How Your Boudoir Session Works

We believe a great experience starts long before your session. Clear communication, thoughtful preparation, and aligned expectations allow everything to feel calm, intentional, and well-supported from start to finish.

Below is an overview of what working together looks like.

1

Book Your Session

Your session is officially reserved once the boudoir session fee is paid. This secures your date and time in the studio and includes your planning consultation, style guidance, and professional hair and makeup on the day of your session.

2

Arrival
& Hair + Makeup

You’ll arrive at the studio at your scheduled time to begin with professional hair and makeup. This portion of the experience is designed to help you settle in, relax, and ease into the day.
Hair is typically styled with soft curls, volume, and a natural, blowout-inspired finish. Makeup is polished, flattering, and camera-ready. If you have inspiration photos, you’re welcome to bring them — though they are never required.

3

Your Boudoir Session

Once hair and makeup are complete, we’ll move into your photo session. You do not need any prior experience in front of the camera. I will guide you through posing, movement, and expression every step of the way, ensuring you feel confident, comfortable, and supported throughout the entire session.

After Your Session

4

Following your session, your images will be professionally culled and edited. You’ll receive a private proofing gallery where you can view your images and select the collection and products that best fit what you love.

Selecting Your Collection

5

Once you’ve seen your images, you’ll choose your digital collection and any additional products you’d like to purchase. This approach allows you to make decisions based on the images themselves — with no pressure and no pre-commitment required.

Design, Delivery
& Final Products

6

Albums and Little Black Books are thoughtfully designed by me and sent to our professional print lab for production. Once complete, all physical products are carefully packaged and mailed directly to you.

Digital images are delivered via private online access, allowing you to securely view, download, and enjoy your images at your convenience.

What to Wear

When choosing outfits, start by identifying a feature you love about yourself and build your looks around that. Boudoir is not about hiding — it’s about highlighting what already makes you beautiful.

If there’s an area you feel less confident about, that’s completely okay. I’ll pose and style you in ways that are flattering and intentional, helping you feel confident without covering yourself up.

Outfit Ideas

Bra & Panty Sets
Classic, timeless, and playful. High-waisted styles are especially flattering.

Bodysuits
Universally flattering and a client favorite. They create beautiful lines while offering a little extra coverage.

Cut-Off Shirts or Tanks
Perfect for a relaxed, effortless look. Pair with denim shorts or high-waisted panties.

Prefer a More Conservative Look?

Robes — Lace or sheer robes photograph beautifully and add movement.
Oversized Sweaters — Cozy, soft, and flattering.
Fitted Jerseys or Button-Downs — Great for shaping and structure.

Want to Accentuate Curves?

Heels, corsets, and stockings are wonderful options for adding shape and confidence.

Where do I even buy these things?

There are PLENTY of in store shopping options.
Obviously, Victoria Secret is great. They're a little pricey, but great quality.

If you’re even more comfortable, there are stores like Priscilla McCall's that are also loaded with options.

And if you’re not willing to be caught dead with lingerie at a store, I’ve attached the link to my favs from Amazon!

Accessories

Less truly is more when it comes to accessories. Thoughtful, understated pieces photograph beautifully and keep the focus on you.

Consider bringing:

  • A Wedding Veil — Soft, romantic, and timeless

  • Your Partner’s Button-Down — Effortless, intimate, and always flattering

  • Delicate Jewelry — Simple necklaces, stud earrings, or something you wear daily

  • A Meaningful Detail — An heirloom piece, sentimental item, or something quietly personal

Accessories should complement your session, not distract from it. If you’re unsure, you’re always welcome to bring a few options — I’m happy to help you decide what photographs best.
